Accepting Applications for Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Direct Support Professional
Hourly Salary: $12.50 Hourly
Job Type:  Full Time and Part Time 
Shift: Monday - Friday 
 Job Description:
Positions for DSP's available Monday through Friday. These positions will support adults with intellectual disabilities, ranging from energetic and out-going, to shy and reserved. We are looking for staff that will embrace the challenge of searching for empowering experiences by identifying and engaging in community integration or employment activities
.
 We are searching for people that will welcome being an active role model, loves challenges, is observant, compassionate, caring and energetic. The applicant will also need to show creativity by developing new experiences daily as well as learn the characteristics and effective methods of supporting a variety of people.  Candidates must be able to collect valuable data on a daily basis both written and verbally, capable of following a routine, promote choices, share the excitement and have positive language/social interaction skills.

Preference will be given to the people who can demonstrate the abilities to be creative, organized, motivated and a self-starter. The successful candidates will have input to schedule outings and activities; as well as provide assistance in vocational endeavors taken on by the person supported. They will also be inclined to problem solve and work independently as they assist people in achieving their personal, social and vocational goals.
Duties include but are not limited to; 
  • Implementing goals and objectives
  • Documentation of progress, work, medical concerns, or unusual incidents
  • Administering medications
  • Adherence to Individual Plan of Service
  • Supporting individuals with their own choices
  • Adherence to all FWO policies
  • Acting in the individuals best interest
  • Assisting individuals with personal tasks
  • Training individuals in work-related issues
  • Maintaining a safe and productive environment
  • Communicating concerns to the appropriate personnel
  • Transporting of job materials including lifting and bending
  • Transport individuals in the community
Qualifications and Skills
       Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years old. 
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. or more.
  • Valid drivers license with the ability to get a Chauffeurs license
  • Clean driving record. 
  • Basic Computer Skills.
  • MORC or GHS training preferred.
  • Experience working with disabled adults preferred.
Required Education:
·        High School diploma or GED.
